Why is TUCoRE Important?

Partnerships such as this one provide an avenue for focused research that benefits Chevron, The University of Tulsa (TU) and the entire oil and gas industry. TUCoRE builds on this heritage by creating an exciting new form of industry-university partnership for petroleum engineering reserach and education," said Donald Paul, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Chevron.

Chevron champions are assigned to each research project. They provide valuable support and encouragement to the research scientists and lend real-world experience to the process. Students are identified based on avademic qualifications and their potential to become key contributors tot he future success of the petroleum industry. TUCoRE provides funding for mentoring, honors programs, internships, developtment of course curricula and special projects at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Mark Puckett, President of Chevron's Energy Technology Company (ETC), recognizes the value in partnering with TU. "Chevron has a long-standing relationship with the University of Tulsa, in both R&D and educational programs. TUCoRE builds upon TU's world-renowned expertise in petroleum engineering, fuid flow and production technology. The center will provide enhanced value to Chevron's long-term technology development program and the education of future engineering leaders." TU alumni like Kevin Lacy, Chevron's VP of Global Drilling and Completions, recognize the power of this partnership. "With TUCoRE, we can count on a research center that will establish a history of realted projects and expertise where undergraduates can get hands-on, cutting-edge research experience."
